Acupuncture is very effective in treating a wide range of acute, traumatic conditions. The number one rule is the sooner you receive treatment the sooner you see results.
Acupuncture can reduce swelling, inflammation and pain so it can help you recover faster and with less pain. ACC state that the number one treatment for acute back pain is ….acupuncture!!!
Don’t be surprised, especially for an acute injury if acupuncture doesn’t occur on the injured site itself, but higher up or lower down or on the even on the other healthy side. Go with it! I promise it will help.
Your ACC Claim & Acupuncture
If you’ve had an injury and this has been accepted by ACC, acupuncture is covered. You don’t need a referral from a physio, osteo, chiro or GP. Just book and come along with your ACC number.
If you have not yet been to see a registered health professional (physio, osteo, chiro or GP) and received an ACC claim number, then you will need to do this to be treated with acupuncture under the ACC scheme.

ACC covers a wide range of disorders and injuries that people can receive treatment for at a discounted cost, some of which include fractures, soft tissue injuries , repetitive strain injuries and post-concussion syndrome (Accident Compensation Corporation, 2006).
